Produkcje pierwszych polskich gitar elektrycznych „Samba” oraz basów „Lotos” rozpoczęto w 1966 roku w Bydgoskiej Fabryce Akordeonów BEFA. Gitary te z wyglądu przypominały instrumenty szwedzkiej firmy Hagstrom. W 1971 roku Dolnośląska Fabryka Instrumentów Lutniczych DEFIL przejęła linie produkcyjną gitar „Samba” i "Lotos" ,produkując już swoją pierwszą gitare „Jola” .
